A Data-Driven Look into Bridging the Education Gap
Isheah Al-Sumairi, Chloe Nguyen, and Naomi Yiu, 2025 Showcase
A Data-Driven Look into Bridging the Education Gap: This project was conducted as an opportunity for students to apply course concepts in information visualization and explore real-world use cases of data visualization. Alsumairi, Nguyen, and Yiu examined a dataset capturing global educational data to answer the question: how are student outcomes affected by extrinsic factors, and how do student outcomes translate into professional outcomes? Students practiced data processing and visualization skills but also learned valuable lessons in research approaches and outcomes, as an unexpected result was gained from the data.
Isheah Al-Sumairi: “I am a current senior at SJSU, majoring in Information Science and Data Analytics. I am interested in how data can be leveraged to uncover valuable insights and improve people’s lives.”
