Exploring the Unknown: Sensemaking in the Cave Diving Community

Exploring the Unknown: Sensemaking in the Cave Diving Community: For this project, I studied the cave diving community, and this paper identifies how information centers can support them. 2 Abstract The cave diving community is filled with diverse members who use a variety of methods to exchange information and stay informed of any changes in their adventurous yet thrilling hobby. People involved in the cave diving community have a need to investigate mysterious locations and sites. The cave diving community interacts with one another by exchanging information on blogs, online forums, social media, discussion boards, and videos; additionally, this community reads and gains information from articles and books. This community uses the sensemaking theory to fill in the information needed to prepare for their dives and any upcoming challenges.
