First-Year Library Services Plan for the Incarcerated
Jane Matchak, 2025 Showcase
First-Year Library Services Plan for the Incarcerated: The First-Year Library Services Plan is a theoretical, comprehensive plan designed for a prison library, including a cognitive-based curriculum relevant to the real needs of a chosen facility’s incarcerated population and the operational requirements of the correctional institution. The Plan and curriculum are designed to be hypothetically feasible for submission to the prison librarian’s supervisor for review and approval during the first year of service within the Department of Corrections. The Plan includes: an introduction to the facility and its institutional system; a Service Community Description; a financial overview of library services support; a SWOT Analysis; the Library Philosophy of Service; and three Service Goals (one of which is supported by an ADDIE-generated program proposal). It also features a Plan Review and Appendices.
