The Future of Communications: AI and Robots: This project addresses the topics of non-verbal communication, impacts of AI on communication, and the non-verbal behavioral advancements of robots. It explores the significance of each topic, examines benefits and challenges of these communication mediums, and identifies strategies for incorporating non-verbal, AI, and robot communications into professional lives.

Michelle Bauer is a graduate student pursuing her Master of Library and Information Science degree with an expected graduation in Fall 2026. Having earned her California Teacher Librarian Credential in Spring 2026, she brings experience in K-12 education. Michelle is passionate about digital media literacy and instructional design. She believes that information literacy is an essential life skill for all ages and is dedicated to build inclusive, intentionally curated library spaces that support students and teachers to foster a lifelong love of learning.

Kristopher Edge is a graduate student pursuing his Master of Library and Information Science degree. He first became interested in the library field after volunteering for the public library in Visalia, CA, and strives to learn more about how libraries function and serve their communities. With experience in public and school libraries, he is a proponent of lifelong learning and looks for ways to help libraries serve their patrons efficiently.

Alexandra Galvan is a graduate student pursuing her Master of Library and Information Science degree with an expected graduation in Fall 2026. She currently works for the City of Santa Monica as a library page.

Shane Hickey is currently enrolled in San José State University’s Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program, working toward a career in academic libraries. He graduated from Georgetown University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service and has worked in academic libraries ever since, specializing in resource sharing and discovery. His professional and academic areas of focus include emerging technologies, information literacy in the age of AI, service design, and the ways libraries can adapt to meet changing user needs. Shane is especially interested in applying research and assessment to strengthen library services and improve the experiences of students, faculty, and researchers. He values collaboration, thoughtful problem-solving, and the important role academic libraries play in connecting people with the information they need. He hopes to continue growing as a practitioner and leader.

Kelly Reisig’s career has centered around education, libraries, and advocacy efforts. She started her work as a Head Start and Migrant/Seasonal Head Start teacher. After obtaining her MBA she moved into public relations. She worked for school districts in Nebraska and Alaska. She transitioned to the role of library director and served in both Montana and Nebraska. Kelly currently serves as the Library Director at the Hastings Public Library in Hastings, Nebraska. The Hastings Public Library serves 30,000 residents. Kelly brings a passion for public libraries and their ability to bring communities together. She is committed to providing superior library services to a community by bringing together a diverse team of library professionals working collectively to provide these foundational services.

Lizeth Rios is an MLIS student with a focus on the Leadership and Management pathway. She currently works at an academic library at a community college full-time and part-time at a public library in west central Minnesota. In her spare time, she volunteers for a local nonprofit and is an active member of a local American Association of University Women branch.
