History of Foresight/Futures Studies and Methods to Plan for the Future: The research assignment includes a brief exploration of the History of Foresight/Futures Studies and techniques that forecasters/futurists use for planning. It touches on numerous types of forecasting methods including Amy Webb’s Flare and Focus Strategy for Forecasting. In conclusion, it considers the work the State of California is doing with the establishment in 2019 of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency’s Future of Work Commission to study the emerging future.
Heather Purchase currently works as a library technician at Oakdale Heights Elementary School in Butte County, CA. She is a MLIS student who is about halfway through the program. She earned a Bachelor’s in History from the University of California, Santa Cruz. This semester, she is interning virtually at Teaneck Public Library in Teaneck, NJ. In the past, she has worked as an Early Literacy Coach as part of the Santa Cruz Reading Corps, as an Afterschool Art teacher, and in a Montessori Childcare Center. She is looking to pursue a career in Youth Services in a Public Library or as an Instruction/Outreach Librarian in an Academic Library.
