Maps in Children's and Young Adult Literature: Maps in Children’s and Young Adult Literature discusses the history of literary cartography in youth literature. This presentation reviews both the past and current research on this topic, examining how authors use maps to build worlds, set the tone, and create authenticity within their stories.
 
Courtney Gardinier

Courtney Gardinier has spent over 13 years working with children and teens in a variety of library settings. Before embarking on her Master’s of Library and Information Science at SJSU, she was a Teens’ Instructor and Research Specialist for the Howard County Library System in Maryland. Currently, she is the District Media Assistant for a school system in the Portland, Oregon area. She holds a B.A. in Classical Languages and Literatures from the University of Maryland and a M.A. in Medieval Studies from the University of Toronto.
