Tahoe.com Website Redesign
David Perkins, Shannon Trawick, and Jennie Yates, 2025 Showcase
Tahoe.com Website Redesign: Tahoe.com is a commercial travel and lifestyle website serving visitors, outdoor enthusiasts, and residents of the Lake Tahoe region. While rich in content about activities, lodging, dining, and local businesses, the site’s current design overwhelms users with dense text, unclear navigation, and visual clutter, causing cognitive overload and task abandonment. This report presents a comprehensive redesign of Tahoe.com’s information architecture (IA) to improve usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction while aligning business goals with user needs.
Based on user research — including card sorting, surveys, and environmental scans — the redesign streamlines navigation, reduces redundant content, and organizes information into intuitive categories (Eat, Shop, Play, Stay). Key recommendations include a simplified homepage, improved filtering, curated vacation packages for different demographics, and a new trip planner feature. Visual mockups and ongoing user testing strategies are provided. The redesign aligns stakeholder goals with user needs, enhancing accessibility, engagement, and business value.
