Ana Elisa de Campos Salles (she/her) is the Central District Manager for the Chief of Branches at the San Francisco Public Library. Previously, she was branch manager at the Parkside Branch of the San Francisco Public Library, and acting branch manager of the Children’s Library and senior librarian at the City of Palo Alto Library. She began her career in libraries as a library associate at the District of Columbia Public Library, where she decided libraries was a great Plan B after being hired, and was promoted to librarian after getting her MLIS in Library and Information Science at the Catholic School of America, also in DC.

Ana Elisa also currently serves on the Executive Board of the American Library Association, advocating for and strategizing on how best to support library workers and ALA members alike, especially during these times of increased censorship and attacks on libraries and library workers. She has been an active member of ALA for the last ten years after being selected as a 2011 Spectrum Scholar and 2013 Emerging Leader, serving on and chairing the Rainbow Round Table Executive Board, serving on the Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services’ Advisory Committee, and Council, among other roles.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling abroad for as long as her library will let her, mentoring library school students and new professionals to be and make the change they want to see, volunteering on the board of a local community organization, leading a monthly discussion group, and meeting up with friends for delicious meals, hikes, swims, and general quality time together.
