A graduate of the School of Librarianship at the University of British Columbia, Don Mills has held several chief librarian positions in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, and served in a wide variety of institutions encompassing broad social and economic diversity. He assumed his current position as Director of the Mississauga Library System in 1987, one of the largest public libraries in Canada. Don has planned and built well over a dozen libraries, including a major central library in Mississauga.

Very active in national and professional association life, Don’s current involvements include activism in the American Library Association, as well as serving as chair of the National Library of Canada.
