Lisa Cheby

Lisa Cheby is a school librarian and MLIS candidate at San José State University. She was awarded the Robert Ellett Scholarship and the Alumni and Friends Scholarship. Before becoming a librarian, Cheby taught high school English for eight years. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University. As a librarian, she not only provides information literacy instruction and access to information to the community, but she also works to support creative writing and expression through classes, clubs, and readings on campus.  She works closely with the local public library and poet laureate to create opportunities for students to engage with literature and creativity. In addition to being an intellectual freedom fighter and poet, she enjoys hiking, yoga, dancing, and live music.
