Advocacy Student Group Q&A with ALA’s Executive Director Tracie D. Hall
To celebrate the formation of the new SJSU Advocacy Student group
at the iSchool, we will be holding a Q&A with the American
Library Association’s Executive Director Tracie D. Hall. The
topic of this informal conversation will be related to the goals
of the new student group — to consider how LIS professionals can
learn skills to demonstrate and surface the value of libraries
for communities and diverse populations, to understand how to
work with organization systems to fight for sustainable funding,
and to collaborate to communicate the importance of libraries to
citizens, educators, community leaders, legislators, and elected
officials. All are welcome to submit questions in advance through
this form: https://bit.ly/AdvocacyQuestionsSJSU
SJSU iSchool Director Dr. Anthony Chow is the student group’s
advisor. Interim student officers will moderate the conversation.
If you’d like to join the group or be considered for officer
positions that will be elected in Fall 2022, please
email claire.kelley@sjsu.edu.
