iSchool’s First Generation Student Group Spring General Meeting
Who are First Generation Students @ iSchool?
https://ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu/firstgen/
We are a new and growing network of students aiming
to work together to navigate the world of graduate school and
enter a
professional field. It is our (the Executive Council’s) hope that
this group
provides social and academic support for all first generation
students within
the iSchool. While there is no consistent definition of what
being a
first generation (first gen) student means, generally we are the
first in our
families to attend a graduate-level program. We are an inclusive
group, and
extend this definition to include any student who feels that they
share many of
these experiences.
The Event:
Connect with other first generation students,
learn about research on first generation experience, become
acquainted with faculty
from first generation backgrounds, and learn how you can get
contribute!
