SAASC: Celebrating Earth Day with the Sierra Club’s Colby Library
Since 1892, the Sierra Club Library–later named the William E.
Colby Memorial Library in 1965–has collected publications and
resources for the benefit of members and staff, as well as the
public and research community. Although the official Sierra Club
archives have been housed at UC Berkeley’s Bancroft Library since
the early 1970s, Colby Library holds extensive collections of
books, periodicals, government documents, historic photographs,
slides, maps, and memorabilia that document the activities and
actions of the Sierra Club and broader environmental movement.
Join SAASC and archivist Joanna Black for a close look at Colby
Library’s collections and for an early celebration of Earth
Day!
