The Best of Archiving’19: Lisbon Recap
Presented by Dr. Marie Vans
Published: September 10, 2019 by Dr. Pat Franks
Marie Vans, a senior research scientist with Hewlett-Packard Labs in Fort Collins, Colorado, and an iSchool alumna presented an informative and entertaining presentation recapping some of the events of the Archiving ’19 Conference held by The Society for Imaging Science & Technology at the Arquivo Nacional da Torre do Tombo in Lisbon, Portugal.
IS&T is an international community of technical experts, managers, practitioners, and academics from cultural heritage institutions, universities, and commercial enterprises, formed to explore and discuss the digitization, preservation and access of 2D, 3D, and AV materials.
This year’s program included presentations from CERN, the Library of Congress, Smithsonian, Purdue, J. Paul Getty Trust, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Image Science Associates, and Cognition, and more. If you couldn’t attend, the next best thing was listening to Marie bring those presentations to life.
Marie also summarized a presentation she and Dr. Franks submitted called “Preserving Virtual World Cultural Heritage using Preservica & Custom Metadata Schema.”
