- Welcome by Dr. Anthony Chow, PhD: Professor and Director, SJSU iSchool
Keynote Presentation and Q&A (10:05 a.m. – 11:05 a.m. Pacific Time)
- Dr. Luna Najera: A Senior Lector and Associate Research Scholar at Yale University, specializing in Spanish and Portuguese literature, environmental humanities, and Indigenous philosophy, with a focus on the intersection of war, state violence, and gender in Latin America.
Panel Discussion (11:05 a.m. – 11:55 a.m. Pacific Time)
- Kassandra Dineen: An MLIS alum from San Jose State University, the first in her family to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, and is passionate about supporting library access for all.
- Marina Corrales: A first-generation graduate student at Santa Clara University, aspiring to become an academic librarian, with research focused on Latinx students’ access to library resources.
- Laura Garand: An MLIS alum from San Jose State University and former FGSG Chair, committed to advocating for first-generation students within the library community.
- Casey McConnell: An MLIS student at San Jose State University and the current Chair of the First Generation Student Group, dedicated to creating spaces for first-gen students to share their experiences and uplift each other.
