Four MLIS Students Receive Leisure World Scholarships

News

A strong commitment to a professional career in public librarianship and academic excellence helped four students from Southern California be awarded the Friends of Leisure World Library annual scholarships. Graduate students Paula Hess, Zemirah Lee, Sophia Duran, and Amy Cote will receive the $1,000 scholarships.

All four graduate students are earning their ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science in the exclusively online graduate degree program at the nationally ranked San José State University (SJSU) School of Library and Information Science (SLIS).

The Friends of the Leisure World Library scholarships are funded by Leisure World, an active adult community located in Seal Beach, Calif. The Friends of the Library are volunteers who are interested in promoting the library to the community, enriching resources, and sponsoring cultural programs. The Friends of Leisure World Library scholarships are administered by SLIS.

The SJSU information school awards several annual scholarships to current graduate students. For more information about scholarships, please visit: Scholarships and Awards
