The Library 2.012 Worldwide Virtual Conference is into its second day of ’round the clock presentations. The interactive conference began with an attention-grabbing keynote presentation by the director of the School of Library and Information Science at San José State University.

Dr. Sandra Hirsh, SJSU SLIS professor and director, set the tone of the conference with her keynote that addressed the perceptions of the Library 2.0 professional and outlined what the global audience of information professionals can do to change them.

Keynote Description: It’s time for us to take charge of the evolving information landscape and redefine what it means to be an information professional. As new technologies emerge, new opportunities for information professionals are emerging, too. This talk explores some of the perceptions of our profession, and what we can do as information professionals to change them. Dr. Hirsh will outline how you can be a catalyst for change and inspire others to rethink the information profession.
