Why “Take 1”, you ask? Because as a newly admitted student the upcoming Online Collaborate Session, “Start Preparing Now for Your Future Career,” held via our web conferencing platform Blackboard Collaborate, is the first of many opportunities for a guided tour to our Career Development resources.

 In this webinar, to be held on Wednesday, September 19, from 5:30-6:30 pm PST, you’ll meet SJSU SLIS Faculty Jane Fisher and SLIS Career Center Liaison Jill Klees, who will lead you through the many resources available to you as a newly admitted student and answer any career-related questions you may have upon entering the SLIS program.

No need to prep for this online session, but if you haven’t checked out the Career Pathways web page and the SLIS Career Blog, doing so may inspire some questions worth posing. Oh, and if it’s your first time using Blackboard Collaborate, consider reading the “Getting Started” steps on our Collaborate resources page for students ahead of time, and practice accessing Collaborate. It took me a while to get the hang of all the technology used in the SLIS program (I’m still learning, in fact!), but rest assured a little practice goes a long way.
