Emerging Technology Services Analyst
Alfredo Alcantar is an Emerging Technology Services Analyst at San José State University’s School of Information, where he supports the integration of AI and emerging technologies across teaching, learning, and program operations. His work focuses on helping faculty adopt practical, accessible, and ethical approaches to technology that enhance student learning and workforce readiness.
He supports faculty through Canvas strategy, course design consultation, and multimedia development, while also researching and evaluating tools such as AI and extended reality (XR) for use across academic programs. Alfredo develops and facilitates professional development experiences that build faculty confidence and capacity to use emerging technologies effectively.
A member of the iSchool’s Technology and Resources Committee, Alcantar contributes to the school’s strategic planning around new technologies in online education. His work has contributed to nationally recognized innovation in digital learning, including projects honored with a Silver Anthem Award.
Alcantar joined the iSchool in 2011 and remains committed to advancing sustainable, high-impact approaches that expand access, reduce barriers, and prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
