Alfredo Alcantar
LMS Services Coordinator
Alfredo Alcantar is the services coordinator for the online learning management system at the San José State University School of Information. In this role, he provides technical support and service, ensuring a high quality user experience for the iSchool’s faculty members and students. Alcantar assists faculty members in setting up their courses in the Canvas learning management system, trains faculty members and students on how to use Canvas, and helps faculty members and students solve any technical issues.
Alfredo also supports the iSchool’s use of Zoom. He has prepared documentation, helps with Zoom sessions, and oversees the Zoom webinar platform for the School.
Derek Christiansen
Web Technologist
Derek is the web technologist for the iSchool. His duties include managing the school’s Drupal CMS, developing and extending custom software for the school, and overseeing a team of student assistants. The web development team responds to a broad array of technical requests from our growing community of students, faculty, staff and stakeholders in the world of LIS.
Dale David
LMS Administrator/Multimedia Specialist
Dale David graduated from the iSchool’s MLIS program in June 2004. He performs day-to-day LMS technical support, website support, faculty and student training, and multimedia creation and management. Prior to joining the iSchool, David worked in various law firms in San Francisco.
Abigail Laufer
Network Administrator
Abigail Laufer is the network and system administrator for the San José State University School of Information. Her primary duties include:
- UNIX, Linux, and Windows server and application administration.
- Technical planning and oversight of contracts with SaaS service providers.
- End user support (faculty, staff, and students).
- IT purchasing.
- Mac computer support.
- Server co-location planning and coordination.
Bob Lucore
Technology Support
Bob Lucore provides support for a variety of educational, web-based, technologies used by the iSchool’s students, faculty and staff. He responds to requests for assistance with Web Data Pro, a database management product used for teaching students how to construct and query databases. He provides technical assistance with Panopto, an application used for delivering web-based lectures in the iSchool. He helps to maintain and troubleshoot problems with WordPress websites used by all students in the MLIS program.
TC Truong
IT Support Specialist
TC Truong is the IT support specialist for the San José State University School of Information. His primary duties are to setup, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software for iSchool faculty, staff, and students.
Prior to joining the iSchool, TC worked in the private sector and at Stanford University. TC is a SJSU alumnus.
Bethany Winslow
Director of Online Learning
As director of online learning, Bethany Winslow works to continually improve teaching and learning in the online environment for faculty members and students. She is the course coordinator for INFO 203, a required course for all new incoming students. She trains and supervises the INFO 203 peer mentors and the student assistants who provide Zoom web conferencing support. She is also the Teaching Online course coordinator for all new incoming faculty members, and is the volunteer coordinator for the Library 2.0 conference series.
