Post
  1. Q. Whose fees will be increased?

It is 10.67% for students enrolled in the Master of Library and Information Science, Master of Archives and Records Administration, Digital Assets Certificate, Teacher Librarian Services Credential, or Post-Master’s Certificate programs. It is 9.52% for students enrolled in the Master of Science in Informatics program. 3. Q. When will be the new fee structure be implemented?
    A. The increase in fees takes effect in the fall 2023 semester.
  4. Q. Why is the university increasing fees?
    A. The tuition at the iSchool has not been increased in 12 years, since spring 2010, and the university has mandated these fee increases.

Provost Vincent J. Del Casino Jr. explains:

“While SJSU seeks to maintain quality programs at affordable costs, it must also meet the rising expenses tied to that education. This is a challenge as a majority of our self-support programs have not had a fee increase in over a decade. Our annual operating expenses for CPGE and the campus are now barely breaking-even at the institutional level. We must increase fees for the self-supported Special Session programs to support the increase in salary and benefit costs and the inflationary impact on other operational costs.

The increased fee rates will help the university balance its annual budget in an inflationary environment, while maintaining our commitment to accessibility and value and investing in attracting and retaining the highest-quality faculty and staff to provide all students with high quality programs and support services that lead to improved student success and timely graduation.”
