LA County Library Trends
Caitlin Greenwood, Ruth Headley, and Cynthia Hernandez, 2022 Showcase
: This was a group project that required us to select a public library and conduct an analysis on the library through its social media and online presence. The group acted as an outside consultant team and composed our findings into a magazine format. Our project is a study of the Los Angeles County Library, its mission, its relationship with the community, and our recommendations to further their mission. We explore the programs and services the library offers to its patrons, assessing trends the library has as well as the community’s wants and needs and how the library responds to those. We analyze the library’s vocabulary choices on the website and the equitable impact the library is making.
Caitlin Greenwood is currently a Circulation Supervisor at Sacramento Public Library. She received her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Chico State in 2016. She plans to graduate with her MLIS by Fall 2023. She has previously worked as a preschool teacher in Head Start and in property management for both residential and commercial properties. On her off days, you can find her relaxing with her fiancé, pug, and jack russell, or painting, kayaking, or with a book in hand.
Ruth Headley is a Teen Services Librarian entering her final semester at SJSU. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband.
Cynthia Hernandez: “I live in the coachella valley and work at two public libraries in my community. The materials studied in Info 232 have helped me be of better service to patrons and the community.”
