Trends in the Public Library: New Orleans Public Library
Frank LaRue, Alex Mitchell, and Kim Quach, 2022 Showcase
Trends in the Public Library: New Orleans Public Library (YouTube video): We evaluate how the New Orleans Public Library stacks up against current industry trends and best practices, analyzing their current services and comparing them to the work of prominent voices in the broader library discourse. We also make suggestions as to what additional resources they could tap.
Frank LaRue lives in Ohio with his wife and his wonderful dog, Finn.
Alex Mitchell: “I am a current library paraprofessional at the Sacramento Public Library, where I am a member of the Mobile and Outreach Services team. My passion is bringing equitable and engaging service to our community where they are. In the long term, I hope to work in STEAM education at the library – I come from a Mechanical Engineering background and keenly feel the need to help inspire our next generation to learn by doing.”
Kim Quach: “Most of the kids I work with call me Ms. Kimi and I’m known as the librarian with the rainbow hair by my story time patrons. I’m pursuing my MLIS with a focus in children’s services to further my career, and I hope one day to be promoted from part time library assistant to full time librarian with the Anaheim Public Library. I absolutely love working with the kids of my community and am committed to making my branch a place for life long learning and fun.”
