International Travel Requirements

Post

If you wish to be reimbursed for iSchool-related international travel, a Travel Authorization Request must have been obtained prior to the travel taking place. If a Travel Authorization Request was not obtained, a reimbursement will not be processed. The FTS Travel Authorization Request for international travel must be submitted 60 days prior to the travel date to non High Hazard areas, and 80 days prior to the travel date to High Hazard areas. Travel to High Hazardous Countries requires additional documentation and approval because of this, the Request for Financial Assistance for Travel Form for full-time faculty and staff or the Request for Financial Assistance for Travel Form for part-time faculty must be submitted as soon as you are aware that the travel will be taking place.

  1. Submit the Request for Financial Assistance for Travel Form for full-time faculty and staff or the Request for Financial Assistance for Travel Form for part-time faculty.
  2. If the travel is to a country listed on the High Hazardous Countries list, the Administrative Analyst will work on getting the additional forms completed and approved.
  3. The Administrative Analyst will create an FTS Travel Authorization Request and inform the traveler when it is ready for them to review/input travel details.
    • A letter of invitation, agenda, schedule, etc., must be included in all travel authorizations to substantiate the reason for travel.
  4. The traveler and the Administrative Analyst will work together to make sure travel details are in order.
  5. Traveler must submit the FTS Travel Authorization Request for approval.

This process is in addition to the SJSU iSchool Travel Fund Criteria for full-time faculty and staff.
