Cultural Heritage — MARA Elective Cluster
Electives focus on organizing, describing, interpreting, managing, preserving, and providing access to materials created in the present and inherited from the past to share culture, values and traditions with future generations. (Prerequisites are waived for MARA students.)
Students focusing on Cultural Heritage should take the following two courses for 6 units:
- INFO 256 Archives and Manuscripts

And 6 units from the following:

Contemporary Issues
Topic: Metadata - INFO 284 Seminar in Archives and Records Management
Select according to interest from the following topics: sections on digital curation; digitization; special collections; medieval manuscripts (codicology, paleography, genres); incunabula; curating exhibitions from archival collections; EAD (encoded archival description); tools, services, and methodologies for digital curation; management of photographic collections; photographic preservation.
Note: MARA students may take only 9 units of credit outside of MARA—so be sure that 3 units of credit are from MARA electives.

The Cultural Heritage elective cluster does not qualify for the Digital Assets Certificate.
