San José State University’s iSchool has an incredible set of career resources for alumni and current students to access. Being in an online program does not mean you’re completely on your own when looking for internships, volunteer opportunities or jobs. In fact, it actually means you are at an advantage because you have access to incredible career resources at the touch of a button. Of those resources, the career blog is one of the best. Written and curated by the Student Research Journal’s Editor-in-Chief Greta Synder, the resource is full of information from the perspective of this recently graduated student!

Virtual Career Workshops

The most recent resource Synder has shared about is the virtual career workshops, hosted weekly by the iSchools career consultant, Jill Klees! Attending these virtual workshops live is one of the best options. However, if you can’t make it, the Career Development page is chock full of recordings. Is My Classwork Enough?

Students that get involved in extracurricular activities in the iSchool program have lots more to include on their resume, and also have built-in opportunities to network. Many of these activities easily translate to professional work experience, even if it’s in a volunteer capacity. Intrigued? SJSU iSchool Has Career Podcasts!

Need a flexible way to stay on the cutting edge of career development? The iSchool records 30-minute podcasts by impressive information professionals and alumni. These are great little nuggets of wisdom to listen to even while busy with other activities (cooking in the kitchen, riding the bus, etc.). Read more at Want to Hear Some Great Advice? Listen to the Career Podcasts.
