Lisa Meléndez, Professor of Library Services at Suffolk County Community College, is an instructional and outreach librarian who regularly partners with the Office of Mental Health & Wellness on campus.  Collaborations include offering workshops for Health Sciences students on stress management, Human Services students on self-care, and more general offerings related to promoting wellbeing in academic environments.  In 2021, she received the Judith Rivas mini-grant from REFORMA NE to support a visual arts collaboration between the SCCC libraries and Latino Arts of Long Island (LALI).  Lisa served as chapter secretary for REFORMA NE between 2008-2012. As a 500-RYT yoga instructor since 2012, she continues her studies to offer inclusive yoga to groups such as young adults with diverse needs and Madres Latinas at public libraries. Her professional interests include exploring how contemplative practices can support student learning and growth across campus venues by incorporating it into workshops for First-Generation Students, the campus Creative Writing Festival, and her Introduction to College Research course.
