Library Services: First Year Plan
Pamela Contreras, 2023 Showcase
: This project is based upon a hypothetical scenario of being hired as a prison librarian and submitting a First -Year Plan. Included in this project was writing a narrative plan covering the first year of library service, relative to the needs of the facility I chose to focus on in my project. The Plan includes goals for the current fiscal year, one of which is to design and offer one therapeutic (cognitive-based) in-library program. The Plan also includes an end-of-year, state-of-the-library report on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities for improvement, and threats to current library service.
Pamela Contreras: “I am a MLIS graduate student at San Jose State University. My undergraduate degree in Psychology: Family Studies was completed at Corban University in Salem, Oregon. While currently living in Colorado Springs, I am originally from the Pacific Northwest–Oregon. For the past nine years I have worked for the Pikes Peak Library District in the Mobile Libraries Department–driving bookmobiles and servicing patrons over the 2,000 square mile country in which I live. In my spare time, I LOVE spending time with my 5 grandchildren!!”
