Professor Lesley Farmer coordinates the Librarianship program at California State University Long Beach, and was named as the university’s Outstanding Professor. She also manages the CSU ICT Literacy Project. She earned her MLS at UNC Chapel Hill and her doctorate at Temple University.
Farmer chaired IFLA’s School Libraries Section, and is a Fulbright scholar. A frequent presenter and writer for the profession, with over 35 published books, she won several national and international awards for her contributions to librarianship.
Farmer’s research interests include digital citizenship, information and media literacy, and data analytics. Her most recent books are Impactful Community-Based Literacy Projects (ALA, 2020), Fake News in Context (Routledge, 2021), and Reference and Information Sources and Services for Children and Young Adults (Rowman & Littlefield, 2022).
