Roma Calatayud-Stocks

Roma Calatayud-Stocks, an award-winning author and composer, holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Minnesota. Roma is the author of three historical novels: A Song in My Heart, A Symphony of Rivals, and An Unveiling Light of Beauty (Published expected date 2023). Roma’s stories highlight the contributions of many cultures through the arts while addressing poignant issues, politics of the era, and historical figures. 

The books are the recipients of various awards: Best Novel Historical Fiction and Latino Books into Movies Awards by the International Latino Book Awards, First Place in the Arts Category by Midwest Book Awards, and Multimedia Experiences Adult Books by Mom’s Choice Awards. In addition, Calatayud-Stocks released two albums, “A Song in My Heart,” to accompany her debut novel, A Song in My Heart, and “Carnival of Life.” The albums feature Roma’s original compositions with classical, jazz, and Latin influences.

Roma has championed arts education for twenty years and has served in various roles for Arts organizations: The Minnesota Orchestra, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Walker Art Center, the National Guild for Communities Arts Education in N.Y, MacPhail Center for Music, the Minnesota Opera, and Vocal Essence.
