Danica Rice
Head Librarian, Luce J. LeBlanc Memorial Library
Danica Rice was born Deaf. She graduated from RIT/NTID in 2007 with a BS in Professional & Technical Communications. During her time as a federal government employee, she became a student at San José State University where she obtained her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science in 2017.
She has been extraordinarily fortunate in her career, counting cataloging Emily Dickinson’s personal library (Harvard University), archiving Henry Miller’s writings (University of Oregon), Hoover Dam construction photos (Bureau of Reclamation), and Coast Guard reference (National Archives), among her many library positions.
She always advocates for the Deaf community anywhere she goes, and she is now starting the Luce J. LeBlanc Memorial Library in partnership with LuceOurLight.org as a resource library for, by and about the Deaf based on the West Coast. She now lives in Oregon with her daughter and a very regal standard poodle.
