Krystyna Tumasova

Krystyna Tumasova was born on April 16, 1977 in Abovyan (Armenia), an Assyrian, now is a citizen of Ukraine. 

On December 29, 1988, she moved to Ukraine with her parents for permanent residence in the city of Krasmnoarmiisk, Donetsk region. 

From the 5th to the 9th grade, studied at the secondary school No. 12 in Krasnoarmiisk. From September 1992 to June 1996, studied at the Krasnoarmiisk Pedagogical College, after which received a Junior Specialist Diploma in Labor Training.

She started her career in December 2003 as a librarian of the senior department of the Central Library, Krasnoarmiisk Central Library.

She graduated from Donbas State Pedagogical University (2011-2014) with a degree in Computer Science and Information Technology.

Since September 2016, Tumasova has been the head of the Pokrovsk City Centralized Library System, Director of the Pokrovsk Central City Library named after Taras Shevchenko.

In 2019, she completed her studies at the National Academy of Culture and Arts Management, having received a Certificate of Advanced Training from the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine under the program, “Advocacy: Representing the interests of libraries. The essence and content of the concept of “advocacy”.

From 2019 to 2020, Tumasova served as the Head of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Pokrovsk City Council of Donetsk region. 

In 2020, she returned to the position of the director of the Pokrovsk City Library.

In December 2020, the municipal institution “Pokrovsk City Centralized Library System” was renamed into the municipal institution “Pokrovsk City Public Library.” Since then, Tumasova has been the director of municipal institution “Pokrovsk City Public Library,” Pokrovsk Central City Library named after Taras Shevchenko.

During her work as director, she made a significant contribution to the transformation of the Central City Library named after Taras Shevchenko into a leading cultural, educational and information center. Tumasova’s professional achievements were highly appreciated. In 2017, Krystyna Tumasova received a Letter of Appreciation from Olena Olekhnovych, Head of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Pokrovsk City Council of Donetsk region, and a Diploma from S.V. Shmelova, Acting Head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

In 2020, her many years of diligent work, high professionalism, and significant personal contribution to the development of librarianship were recognized by the Head of the Regional State Administration, Head of the Regional Military Administration P.O. Kyrylenko.

She has got experience in implementing two projects. In 2019, the library won a project of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) from the people of Japan in Ukraine “Support for the Stabilization of Communities Affected by the Conflict in Donbas” for UAH 120 000 (approximately $3,000), aimed at uniting the community of Pokrovsk, social adaptation and integration of different community members through participation in cultural and artistic events, social and psychological, educational, and leisure activities, development of community initiatives and volunteering, and reduction of social tension in the community. 

In 2021, the Central Library won a grant for UAH 83 000 (approx. 2100 USD) in the “My City 2021″ social project competition. The project is called “Tourist platform of the weekend “Marshrutna Mystoria” and is aimed at creating a cultural and leisure space and conducting a complex of events based on historical basis, on the teaching of patriotism, on the love for the motherland.

In 2023, Tumasova was awarded the certificate of appreciation by Serhiy Dobryak, the Head of the Pokrovsk City Administration, for her active civic stance and personal contribution to the development of the city.

And on the occasion of the celebration of the All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries in 2023,  Tumasova was awarded an honorary diploma by the head of the regional state administration, the head of the regional military administration Ihor Moroz.

A competent, well-trained specialist, a person of restless temperament, persistent and purposeful, Tumasova knows how to analyze and think strategically, introducing everything new into library activities and inspires the entire team to be creative. She responsibly approaches the solution of current affairs, directing work to prospective development and improvement. She approaches the solution of non-standard problems competently and always achieves an effective solution. She is respected in the team and is not confrontational, always helping other employees in solving official matters. She has well-developed organizational skills, determination and diligence, optimism and stability in life and work conditions. She knows how to make decisions quickly. Her inner energy charges those around her with positive and creative dynamics, with the desire to act and improve. Tumasova managed to unite all employees into a large family circle.
