Archives and Records Management Jobs Analysis

The Archives and Records Management Jobs Analysis report is prepared for current and prospective students pursuing a Master’s degree in Archives and Records Administration.

Data was collected on 145 job openings in the United States and Canada from a two month period from September 1 to October 31, 2019, including job titles and descriptions, employment type, organization type, and geographic region.

Soft skills such as “communication skills,” “organizational skills,” “ability to multitask,” “interpersonal, oral and written skills,” and “attention to detail” show up in some form of wording in every listing.

To assess the current job market, candidate requirements like education, experience, software skills, abilities, and knowledge were also analyzed. The jobs analysis for the MARA program is conducted annually in the fall, and the updated report is published in early winter.
