First Generation Graduate Students

The Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and the Center for First-generation Student Success held the inaugural First-Generation College Celebration day in 2017. November 8th was the date selected to celebrate to honor the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965 – a bill intended to help level a playing field weighed against those from minority and low-income backgrounds (source: NASPA).

Once per term, the SJSU iSchool First-Generation Student Group interviews a first-gen member of staff or faculty about the experience they had as a first-gen; the videos of these interviews can be found below.
