The Digital POWRR team invites applications for the fourth of five upcoming in-person, 2.5 day digital preservation training institutes. The fourth Institute will be held October 16-18th at the Thomas Hale Hamilton Library on the campus of the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Due to the generosity of the National Endowment for the Humanities, our Institutes have no registration fees, and travel stipends are available for those with financial needs.

The Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP) will be holding a “Taking your business to the next level” symposium and an associated bootcamp April 18-21, 2024 in St. Louis at the Magnolia Hotel. AIIP is a network of independent business owners running information-centric businesses. Members offer expertise a wide variety of industries, services, and geographies. There is an important focus on the business side of running a successful business and an excellent compliment to SAA membership.

Melissa Kemp is completing her first year in the MARA program. She is a former English professor of 28 years. She taught literature, composition, business and technical writing, and organizational communications. Melissa has been archiving for the past eight years for an international cultural organization. She has owned a professional writing and arts consulting business for 31 years, her current job, and she performs a variety of jobs for the archiving client. She aspires to help cultural organization archive and digitize their collections for long-term preservation and public dissemination.
