Thomas Kasonde Mukonde began work with Lubuto in November 2013, joining the Zambia Office as the library services advisor. Kasonde Mukonde is a native of the town of Kitwe, in Zambia’s Copperbelt. He graduated with a B.A. in History from Georgetown University in 2012. Kasonde Mukonde first learned about Lubuto while at Georgetown in 2010, after attending a talk by one of the Advisory Board members, Mulenga Kapwepwe. After teaching elementary school for a year in Washington D.C., he decided to return home to Zambia and give back to his community. He is currently enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to obtain his Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
