Two graduates of the San José State University School of
Information were recognized by Library Journal for
their exceptional contributions as emerging leaders in the
library community.
The San José State University School of Information and the
Gwinnett County Public Library have chosen a Brooklyn-based
iSchool student as the first recipient of the Innovative
Librarians Award.
San José State University School of Information faculty and staff
members were recently recognized by iSchool Director Dr.
Sandra Hirsh with awards for their contributions to the
school.

The second edition of Information Services Today: An
Introduction, edited by San José State University School of
Information’s Director Sandra Hirsh, and with contributions from
multiple faculty members, has been published.
The San José State University School of Information’s Library
2.018 web conference series will feature three open-access,
topic-specific online conferences with the first one set for
March 8 on design thinking. Registration is free.
Graduation preparation is in full swing at the School of
Information at San José State University. During the annual
virtual convocation ceremony in May, ALA President James Neal
will address the graduates.
Two San José State University School of Information faculty
members have been selected to participate in the San José State
University
eCampus Immersive Learning Institute where they will learn
about innovative augmented reality and virtual reality
technologies and pedagogies that create immersive learning
opportunities to improve students’ engagement and critical
thinking.
A 2016 Master of Library and
Information Science graduate of the San José State
University School of Information attributes a course on grant
writing as the key to being awarded a $1,600 grant that will
benefit her community.
Twenty students pursuing a master’s degree at the San José State
University School of Information were each awarded a $1,422
scholarship for their creative presentations that showcased their
skills and commitment to the information profession.
The theme of change resonates in the 14th issue of the San
José State University School of Information Student Research
Journal. Starting with the introduction of the journal’s new
title to include the school’s name, Editor-in-Chief Holley
Cornetto identifies both change that is happening, and change
that is inevitable in the field of library and information
science.
Five new students beginning the MLIS program in spring 2018 have
demonstrated their potential as information professionals through
the creation of infographics that highlighted their desired
career paths and earned them $1,000 scholarships.
