The twelfth graduate has completed the San
José State Gateway PhD program, a partnership program between
the San José State University School of Information and
Queensland University of Technology.
The applause will be booming during the 2018 California Library
Association conference next month in Santa Clara, California. In
addition to participating in conference sessions and events, the
San José State University School of Information will have a large
presence during the awards dinner.
Ten San José State University School of Information students and
alumni presented posters on their projects and research during
the American Library Association’s 2018 annual conference in New
Orleans.
Blockchain technology may be the wave of the future in libraries,

Alman and Sandra
Hirsh of the San José State University School of
Information want to help bring it to the forefront of
professional discussion and implementation through a book in the
American Library Association’s Library Futures series.
Three San José State University School of Information students
have been selected to serve as editorial staff members on the
school’s Student Research Journal (SRJ), the
university’s only student-led journal.

Anthony Bernier was awarded a 2018-2019 $2,500 American
Library Association
Diversity Research grant to develop an evidence-based
analysis of first generation online library and information
science graduate students.
