VCARA Guest Lecturer Lori Bell presents in Second Life on February 23rd at 6:00PM, Pacific Time
In 2006, the Alliance Library started a number of different types of libraries in the virtual world of Second Life. There were programs, books and just as much as you would expect in a regular library. This program will describe what we did, what worked, and what didn’t and the magic that can be found in a virtual world.

Brant Knutzen, Blended Learning Consultant and Faculty of Education & Human Development at the Hong Kong Institute of Education will present for the VCARA Spring Colloquium Series on January 19 at 6:00pm Pacific time in Second Life. New to Second Life? Join VCARA's Marie Vans (amvans Lapis) on Sunday, January 17, 2016 @ Noon PST for an orientation on iSchool island! In about 30 minutes, you'll learn some SL basics, visit the main buildings in VCARA, and discuss the different events and resources there.

For Seanchai Libraries, the Dickens Project has been part of a larger, long range vision of engaging people in literature in an active manner: promoting interpersonal interaction, the importance of stories, and celebrating the spoken word. Join Seanchai's Caledonia Skytower as she shares the history of this project, why they chose the work of Charles Dickens as a pilot point, and where the concept is going.
