Eight graduate students enrolled in the Master of Library and
Information Science program at the San José State University
School of Information have been awarded
Spectrum scholarships by the American Library
Association’s Office for Diversity, Literacy, and Outreach
Services for 2020-2021.
The Gateway PhD program, an
international doctoral program at San José State University
School of Information and conferred by Queensland University of
Technology, celebrated its 17th graduate, Dr. Salvador Barragan.
The San José State University School of Information is pleased to
announce the formation of a new student
group, REFORMA SJSU iSchool Student Group, and the nomination
of the group’s first officers to its executive board.
The 19th issue of the Student Research
Journal, a fully student-run online publication of the San
José State University School of
Information, is now available
online.
The Special Libraries
Association recently recognized 11 members with awards, two
of whom earned their Master of Library and
Information Science degree from the School of Information at
San José State University. The SLA is a nonprofit global
organization for innovative information professionals and their
strategic partners in business, government, academic, and other
“specialized” settings.
The San José State University School of
Information announces the addition of a new tenure-track
assistant professor to its diverse and award-winning faculty. Souvick
Ghosh will focus on developing a foundational course, Problem
Solving with Data, and will contribute his professional applied
experience to the iSchool’s Master of Library and
Information Science degree program.
Funding totaling $29,862 was awarded to 21 students
pursuing master’s degrees at the San José State University School
of Information. Using software such as Prezi, Powtoon, or emaze,
scholarship applicants creatively showcased themes of global
impact or professional leadership through descriptive text, data
points and visual elements.
Five students who will be enrolling in the Master of Library and
Information Science program at San José State University’s
School of Information in fall 2020 have received the Director’s
Scholarship for Excellence, totaling $7,110 in award
funding; each award is valued at $1,422.
The highly anticipated annual roster of Movers and Shakers in the
information profession published by Library Journal is
out, and two of them have ties to the San José State University
School of Information. Anna Avalos, a 2007 alumna of the Master
of Library and Information Science program, and Maggie Murphy, a
faculty member, are among the distinguished group
of award winners that has grown to nearly 1,000 since its
launch in 2002.
The San José State University School of Information proudly recognizes four graduating students from the Class of 2020 for their exceptional work with Director’s Awards for Excellence. During their grad school studies in the Master of Library and Information Science degree program they demonstrated leadership, ingenuity, compassion, and commitment to bettering our communities.
