Internship Site Supervisor Handbook
Internship Site Supervisor Handbook
We invite you to consider becoming an internship site supervisor, sharing your knowledge with students in our school’s Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program, our Master of Archives and Records Administration (MARA) program and our Post-Master’s Certificate program.
Internship opportunities can be on-site (an intern physically works at your organization) or virtual (an intern works with you online on directed projects) or a combination.
We welcome internship opportunities and site supervisors from all locations and all types of information organizations, as we have students across North America and around the world available to work with you. Whether you offer paid or unpaid internship opportunities remains at your discretion.
Our students are eager to participate in internships to help them understand the changing nature of our profession and gain valuable real-world work experience while earning course credit. Students and supervisors both benefit from this mutual learning experience.
IMPORTANT: The California State University is requiring that a University agreement exist between the internship site and the University. Please read the information here.
Please note: To discuss Teacher Librarianship field experiences in a K-12 school library, contact Mary Ann Harlan. Field experiences are required for students in the Teacher Librarian Program but remain separate from internships.
