The worksites for the MLIS+ Fellowship
  program will be held at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library on
  the SJSU campus. Some worksites will be remote.

‘South Asians in Silicon Valley’ MLIS+ Fellow - Location: IN-PERSON AT SJSU
The worksites for the MLIS+ Fellowship program will be held at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library on the SJSU campus. Some worksites will be remote
The South Asians in Silicon Valley (SASV) initiative at the SJSU King Library records, preserves, and showcases the impact and legacies of the vast South Asian diaspora in the Bay Area/Silicon Valley. Through exhibits, events, and conversations, this initiative connects South Asian community leaders and the SJSU campus and invites everyone to learn about the impact of an immigrant community.
  South Asians in the Bay Area include people with family origins
  in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal,
  Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
  
  The SASV Fellow will participate in various aspects of the
  initiative, including but not limited to:
Conducting background research for exhibits and events
Traveling with mentor to collect artifacts for exhibits
Developing virtual exhibit and installing physical exhibit
Participating in events, from planning, research, coordination, and execution to assessment
Updating website of initiative and working with the Omeka platform for digital exhibits
Participating in meetings, as needed
Writing for journal article or conference presentation or other forms of dissemination about the initiative
Overall, the Fellow will gain a range of experiences and skills in helping build a unique initiative.The Fellow will also meet community leaders and work closely with other librarians, students, faculty, and staff of SJSU.
AI Literacy MLIS+ Fellow - Location: IN-PERSON AT SJSU
  The AI Literacy Fellow will support emerging initiatives focused
  on artificial intelligence, information literacy, and responsible
  AI usage within the San José State University Library. Working
  under the guidance of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Librarian,
  the fellow will assist in developing AI literacy resources for
  students, faculty, and staff. This includes instructional
  materials, online learning tools, and support for library
  workshops and information literacy sessions. The fellow will also
  contribute to the creation of an adaptable AI literacy framework,
  informed by workshop outcomes and research insights, while also
  examining existing AI frameworks for alignment. This position
  will work towards a literature review of instructional use cases
  and strategies.
  
  This position is ideal for students interested in AI
  librarianship, teaching, information literacy, and the ethical
  integration of AI in education and information science. The
  fellow’s contributions will help shape AI instruction at SJSU and
  strengthen campus-wide information literacy in the age of
  generative AI.
Health Sciences MLIS+ Fellow – Location: REMOTE (Some in-person possible @ Fellow’s Request)
  The Health Sciences MLIS+ Fellow will work under the direction of
  library faculty at SJSU to provide teaching and research support
  to health sciences faculty. This position provides an excellent
  opportunity for iSchool students curious about a career in
  academic librarianship as a liaison to medicine, nursing, public
  health, or related fields to gain hands-on experience conducting
  evidence synthesis research in a supportive academic environment.
  The Fellow will assist faculty in the collection and evaluation
  of research data and will be involved with the creation and
  evaluation of online learning objects. Other projects may be
  assigned, depending on the interests and qualifications of the
  successful applicant.
  
  Essential Functions:
  Under the guidance of two experienced health sciences librarians,
  the fellow will:
  * Read articles to familiarize themselves with the project
  methodology;
  * Participate in biweekly or monthly Zoom meetings with a
  multidisciplinary, multi-institutional research team;
  * Assist with data collection and literature reviews;
  * Perform article screening and data extraction;
  * Assist with basic data analysis;
  * Create basic data visualizations; and
  * Contribute to manuscript development.
  
  Other duties may be assigned.
  Required:
  * Ability to learn new software and research techniques as
  needed.
  * Ability to work without direct supervision, paying close
  attention to detail and bearing independent responsibility for
  data accuracy.
  * Self-motivation and a high level of responsibility to complete
  tasks in a timely manner.
  * Ability to adhere to relevant guidelines for research and
  follow appropriate ethical research practices.
  * Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  * Reliable access to internet and computer equipment needed to
  participate in Zoom meetings.
  
  Preferred:
  * Experience conducting literature searches in library databases
  or working on research projects.
  * Knowledge of evidence synthesis methodologies, such as
  systematic reviews.
  * Interest in academic health sciences librarianship or related
  specialized subject area.
  * Proficiency with office and research software and applications,
  such as Google Docs, a citation manager like Zotero, and
  Covidence.
