Information for Employers – MLIS+ Fellowship
Partnering to Develop the Next Generation of Library and Information Leaders
The MLIS+ Fellowship Program offers host institutions the opportunity to partner with the College of Information, Data, and Society – School of Information in shaping the careers of outstanding Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) students. Through meaningful placements, your organization can benefit from fresh perspectives, advance ongoing initiatives, and contribute to professional development across the field.
Host Organization Responsibilities
1. Identify a Worksite and Mentor
Participating organizations must:
- Designate a physical or virtual worksite or worksites suitable for a 12-18 month fellowship. (A 12-month fellowship is extendable and renewable.)
- Provide a dedicated mentor who can:
- Guide the fellow’s regular work and special projects;
- Offer professional development support and career advice;
- Collaborate with the fellow, where possible, on projects.
2. Compensation
Organizations agree to employ the fellow at $20/hour. Fellows work 10–20 hours per week during the appointment, up to 1,000 hours per 12 months.
3. Submit Employer Agreement and Worksite Description
Employers must complete and submit a Host Organization Agreement Form.
A detailed description of the proposed worksite(s) and expected duties are required.
Submissions must meet the August 15, 2025 deadline to be considered for inclusion in the upcoming cohort. Submissions will be considered on a rolling submissions basis before August 15.
