WebData Pro Tutorials
WebData Pro is a web-based database management and information retrieval system. INFO 202 students will use WebData Pro, either individually or as part of a group, to create databases, manage database structure and records, and create a Web-based search interface for querying the database.
INFO 289 e-Portfolio students may also use work done in WebData Pro as evidence in their e-Portfolio.
Create Your Instance Of WebData Pro
Students may use a self-service procedure to create an “instance” of WebData Pro which they will use to complete their assignments in INFO 202. Students may do this individually, or as part of a group, depending on the assignment parameters specified by your INFO 202 instructor.
Create Your Database Table And Define Your Fields
1. Log into your WebData Pro site using your “admin” account and the password you selected during the sign-up process.
Add Records To Your Database
1. From the administration page, click on the navigation button labeled “Manage Records”.
Modifying Or Deleting Records In Your Database
1. From the administration page, click on the navigation button labeled “Manage Records“.
Create A Query/Search Page For Your Database
1. From the administration page, click on the navigation button labeled “Manage Layouts“.
Allowing Others To Add Records To Your Database
Granting Access to your Search/Query Page: When others attempt to access your search/query page, they will be prompted to enter a username and password. To allow others to access your search/query page, you have to create a user account for them using the Manage Members tool. Instructions are provided below.
Multi-Value Fields
WebData Pro will allow you to enter multiple values within a field by utilizing the comma as a delimiter. When using a textbox field or a comment field, separate each value using a comma. In certain cases (see below), you may also need to enclose each value within quotation marks. Several examples are provided below.
Search Operators
WebData Pro supports the Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT. The order of execution is left to right (this order cannot be changed).
Additional Instructions For Important Tasks
Covers additional tasks including: validation lists, displaying all records, printing out the structure, exporting records, backing up, batch importing, and uploading images.
