mlis accreditation

The Master of Library and Information Science program at the San José State University School of Information is accredited by the American Library Association Committee on Accreditation, with the status of Continued accreditation. The next comprehensive review visit is scheduled for spring 2029. The MLIS program has been continuously accredited by ALA since 1969.

The most recent review of the MLIS program by ALA took place in 2022. The comprehensive evaluation of the MLIS program included review of our school’s Program Presentation by an External Review Panel (ERP), as well as a site visit by the chair of the ERP to the SJSU campus to meet with faculty, staff, and program administrators. The ERP included practitioners and academics, who verified that the MLIS program meets ALA’s Standards for Accreditation.
