IDT 205 Learning Design and Technologies
Exploration of design principles and strategies applied to practical solutions for integrating technologies into instructional products and human performance solutions in a range of education and industry settings. Students design, implement, and evaluate a technology-based instructional or human performance project. (3 units)
IDT 206 Advanced Instructional Design and Development
Exploration of advanced techniques and practices in instructional design and development for a variety of design and performance contexts. Students employ theory-based design decisions and reflective problem-solving strategies to design and develop instructional or performance-based projects for complex solutions. (3 units)
IDT 207 Learning Analytics and Data-Driven Evaluation and Assessment
Examination of educational informatics and learning analytics within a systems design framework to optimize learning and performance solutions. Students learn and apply analytical, system-based approaches to make data-driven decisions about evaluation and assessment for training and human performance technology projects. (3 units)
IDT 208 Digital Teaching and Learning Environments
This course explores the theoretical foundations, principles, and best practices for designing and developing digital teaching and learning environments. Students will examine various digital technologies, instructional strategies, and delivery platforms used in educational settings and training settings. The course will focus on the effective integration of these technologies into instructional design, curriculum development, and assessment strategies to enhance student learning and engagement. Additionally, students will explore emerging trends, ethical considerations, and accessibility issues in digital teaching and learning environments. (3 units)
IDT 209 Emerging Technologies
Exploration of design principles and strategies applied to practical solutions for integrating technologies into instructional products and human performance solutions in a range of education and industry settings. Students design, implement, and evaluate a technology-based instructional or human performance project. (3 units)
IDT 210 Multimedia Design and Immersive Extended Realities (XR)
Exploration of design principles and strategies applied to practical solutions for integrating technologies into instructional multimedia products and human performance solutions in a range of education and industry settings. Students design, implement, and evaluate a technology-based instructional or human performance multimedia project using a wide range of technologies. (3 units)
IDT 211 Generative AI for Instructional Design Professionals
Course explores artificial intelligence applications for instructional design, covering emerging generative AI tools, ethical considerations, equity implications, academic integrity, and practical integration strategies for enhancing teaching, learning, and instructional design processes. (3 units)
IDT 212 Digital Learning Operations and Strategic Leadership
Course examines strategic leadership and operational management of digital learning programs and initiatives, covering organizational systems, project management, technology selection, scalable processes, data-driven optimization, and strategic planning. (3 units)
IDT 213 Accessibility and Universal Design for Learning
Hands-on course designed to develop practical knowledge and skills in accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Students will examine learner variability, apply accessibility standards, leverage technology to design accessible and effective learning experiences through targeted labs, and create policy recommendations for fostering inclusive educational and training environments. (3 units)
IDT 214 Human-AI Collaboration
Hands-on course designed to develop critical collaboration skills with generative AI tools across multiple domains and professional contexts. Students will analyze AI capabilities and limitations, master prompting strategies, and design personal frameworks for responsible AI engagement. (3 units)
IDT 287 Special Topics in Instructional Design and Technology
Course allows students to explore advanced or emerging topics in instructional design, instructional technology, learning sciences, and applied innovation. Projects may include research studies, instructional design prototypes, usability studies, XR/VR learning experiences, or other scholarly/practical applications. (1-3 units)
IDT 294 Professional Experience: Internships
A field-based learning experience which provides students with practical, hands-on opportunities to apply theories, skills, and tools learned in the program within professional settings. (1-3 units)
