Admissions Requirements — BS in Information Science and Data Analytics
Transfer Students
In addition to meeting the general admission requirements of the CSU system, transfer students who meet the following requirements will be considered for admission in the degree completion BS in Information Science and Data Analytics program:
- Completion of at least 60 transferable semester or 90 quarter units
- Grade point average of 2.0 or higher
- Completion of all Four Basic Skills with a C- or higher in each course.
- (A1) Oral Communication/Speech
- (A2) Written English Composition
- (A3) Critical Thinking/Logic
- (B4) Math/Quantitative Reasoning (above the level of intermediate algebra)
- The following prerequisite skills must be in place prior to admission. This skill set can be obtained at a community college or by taking the courses here at SJSU through Open University.
- Query Languages
- ISDA 20A – Query Languages or an equivalent course in SQL
- Programming
- ISDA 20B – Python Programming or an equivalent course
- Web Development
- ISDA 20C – Web Development or an equivalent course that covers HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript
- Computer Operating Systems (including Linux)
- ISDA 20D – Computer Operating Systems or an equivalent course
- Query Languages
How to Apply
Admissions to the 2-year, ISDA transfer program are available in fall and spring. Admissions for the spring 2025 semester are now open. The steps to apply are available online and applications are made through the Cal State Apply system. Admissions for spring 2025 will close on November 15, 2024.
Note: all transcripts for prior transfer credit must be sent to the university by the deadline of December 15, 2024.
Student who are interesting in learning more about the ISDA transfer program can request more information from the SJSU Online office. Appointments with an enrollment counselor may also be scheduled to discuss questions you may have about the program.
Students from Oregon enrolled in an SJSU online program will be subject to Oregon State requirements for transferring course works. Specifically, a grade of “C” or better must be earned in all General Education courses.
