Program Learning Outcomes — BS in Information Science and Data Analytics
Upon completion of the BS in Information Science and Data Analytics program, students will be able to:
A. Apply information and data science concepts and methods by thinking critically and creatively to conceptualize and solve real world problems;
B. Demonstrate an understanding of the data lifecycle, including data curation and stewardship. distributed computing, and the data pipeline ecosystem;
Your Career — BS in Information Science and Data Analytics
Freshmen
Graduates with a BS in Information Science and Data Analytics will have knowledge of software principles and practices, programming concepts and techniques, data structures, and system development methods and practices. In addition, they will have studied the human aspect of technology usage with consideration on privacy and ethics and impacts on society.
Program Delivery — BS in Information Science and Data Analytics
Freshmen
The major classes in the BS In Information Science and Data Analytics program are delivered exclusively online via the Canvas learning management system in an asynchronous format. Virtual labs may also be used in some courses.
All core GE (lower division) courses can be taken in person or online, and can be completed at SJSU or a local community college.
A minor is recommended and may be decided upon after consultation with the major advisor.

Freshmen who meet the CSU eligibility requirements may apply to the BS ISDA program.

Students are advised to budget for textbook expenses, as well as obtaining the necessary equipment to prepare their home computing environment, including monthly Internet service, so that they may begin their first semester with all materials in place.
Advising — BS in Information Science and Data Analytics
Freshmen
Starting with the fall 2022 semester, freshmen will be admitted to BSISDA in Regular Session.
